The task team comprises roleplayers in the transport and logistics sectors, from business, government and parastatals. It provides a forum for issues affecting transport to be raised, strategies for dealing with the issues to be identified, and for roleplayers in the sector to network. Feedback has been received on various projects in the metro, including road infrastructure, the Integrated Rapid Transport system (IRTS), rail, Coega IDZ and Port of Ngqura.

The chair of the forum also represents the interests of business on the Eastern Cape Freight Logistics Forum and gives regular feedback. Representation and input at this forum has led to the FLF engaging with municipalities to include freight logistics in their transport project planning and budgeting, which was previously mainly passenger transport-oriented.
