The Port Elizabeth Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PERCCI) is the voice of business in Nelson Mandela Bay nad the largest business organisation in the Eastern Cape, representing the interests of business and facilitating economic growth and development.

PERCCI offers its members and the wider business community access to credible, relevant information and research; opportunities for networking and business promotion; and learning opportunities aimed at business and personal growth.

The Chamber also initiates and supports key economic projects and originated the concept of the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) and deepwater port. More recently, PERCCI has initiated the development of an International Convention Centre for the metro; the Service Excellence campaign; and the Environmental Charter for business. A wide network of strong stakeholder relationships is critical to the work of the Chamber, and enables PERCCI to launch projects such as the development of an industrial strategy for the metro in partnership with the municipality, the Industrial Development Corporation and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

Task teams on relevant issues enable business leaders to engage on a neutral platform and jointly pursue mutual goals such as the upgrading of tourism and freight routes, and interaction with local government on electricity supply and load-shedding.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) form the core of the Chamber's membership and services to this sector have been brought under the umbrella of a comprehensive SME Hub serving the needs of both start-up and more established businesses. Within the Hub, SMEs have access to information, advice, training and mentorship.

PERCCI is a non-profit business association, representative of a broad spectrum of businesses large and small in Nelson Mandela Bay, with more than 850 members.  The Chamber is fully representative of the demographics of the business sector and is leading business transformation by example, in the diversity of its staff, Board and membership.

The Chamber is founded on more than 140 years of business leadership - PERCCI was established in 1994 following the amalgamation of the Port Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce (established in 1864) and the Midland Chamber of Industry (established in 1927), significantly strengthening the voice of organised business in the metro.
